The last few weeks have been made up of getting back into the school routine. A lot of reading, writing, and time spent in the darkroom.
I've also been going to the Artist Portraits at the Belcourt. So far, I've gotten to see: Vic Muniz - Wasteland, Burroughs - A Man Within, and (last night) Strange Powers - The Magnetic Fields.
Last weekend, Jessica and I visited Huntsville, Alabama for the Grand Opening of the Flying Monkey's first floor and it looks good! There are new artist spaces, Happy Tummy (inside) and a community printmaking studio! I am so happy to still feel like a part of the community there.
I went to the Frist to see the new William Eggleston exhibit today.
Huntsville, Alabama (1970)
Other favorites were: "Untitled (Door, White and Black tile, Paramount Lot)","Sign Factory, Square Hole, Pin Up, St. Petersburg, Russia" and "Newspaper on Ground, Grass, California". Oh, and he did album art for the Sliver Jews, Spoon, and Joanna Newsom! I had no idea. If you can make it, I highly suggest going to the artist talk with Caroline Allison and seeing the work on Thursday, February 3rd at 6:30.
I also got to hear the Art Guys speak at Vanderbilt today. I think my favorite project was "Two Grown Men Can't Pull It Apart". After seeing an advertisement for fake grass that said "Two Grown Men Can't Pull It Apart!", they wondered what else two grown men can't pull apart (pictures below). They were very entertaining, they even rented guitars.

Wow! You're up to so much! And it all looks like so much fun!! Thanks for posting this!
